Milled flaxseed — also known as ground flax — is produced by cold-milling whole flaxseed to a fine powder that dramatically increases the bioavailability of flax's omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, which are largely inaccessible in the whole seed due to its hard, intact hull. The cold-milling process preserves heat-sensitive ALA omega-3s while delivering a format that disperses readily into smoothies, baked goods, yogurt, and ready-to-eat cereals without the whole seed's visual presence. Milled flaxseed from Basic Grain is cold-milled to maximise ALA retention and immediately packaged under modified atmosphere or nitrogen flush to protect against oxidation. Each lot includes ALA content, peroxide value, and moisture documentation to confirm freshness and nutritional integrity at point of use.
